The PowerBI dashboard contains several reports. Explanations to help you understand the information, and what it shows, are provided below.

Interpreting the data

The dashboard shows the numbers of approved gaming machines licensed to operate at approved venues as at the last day of the current quarter.

This is a 'snapshot' of the current state of affairs at a point in time. It is not conclusive and should be read in the context of the broader dataset.

Quarterly GMP for January to March 2026 decreased by 4.94% compared to the December 2025 quarter, decreasing from $263,436,848.13 to $250,412,635.14. When adjusted for inflation, quarterly GMP decreased by 5.80%, decreasing from $193,500,919.86 to $182,285,908.25.

This quarterly decrease continues the general pattern of lower GMP in the March quarter compared with the preceding December quarter, consistent with long‑term seasonal trends observed outside the COVID‑19 lockdown period.

The rolling 12-month total GMP for the year ending March 2026 increased by 1.06%, rising from $1,024,768,847.32 to $1,034,902,787.67. Despite the increase in the March 2026 quarter, overall, GMP has been trending down since its peak in June 2023 ($1,070,228,393.57), it remains above one billion dollars.

When adjusted for inflation, the rolling 12-month total GMP increased slightly by 0.34%, from $760,010,420.42 to $762,626,344.30.

The number of venues and electronic gaming machines (EGMs) operating at the end of the quarter both decreased. The number of venues declined by 6 venues (0.63%) from 957 to 951, while the number of EGMs decreased by 90 machines (0.65%), from 13,751 to 13,661. These decreases are consistent with the long-term decline in venue and machine numbers observed since reporting began in June 2015.

Average GMP per EGM decreased by approximately 4.3% from the December quarter to the March quarter, falling from $19,158 to about $18,330 per machine. When adjusted for inflation, average GMP per EGM decreased by around 5.2%, from $14,072 to approximately $13,344.
