Annual figures - all gambling activity

We provide a cumulative annual summary of the amount lost by gamblers (operator’s profits) for the four main types of gambling activity – TAB racing and sports betting, NZ Lotteries products, gaming machines (outside casinos) and casino gambling. The last 5 years of available data are shown in the table below.

The table shows actual dollars (non-adjusted) for gambling operators' financial year-end.

This information is generated at the end of each financial year, but it takes some time to collate. It is published at the same time as other annual data, early in the next calendar year.

  • Actual (nominal) statistics – Table showing actual expenditure, prizes and turnover statistics for the four main types of gambling activity.
  • Inflation adjusted statistics - Table showing expenditure, prizes and turnover statistics adjusted for inflation for the four main types of gambling activity.
  • Population adjusted statistics - Table showing expenditure, prizes and turnover statistics adjusted for the adult population for the four main types of gambling activity.
  • Charts – Visuals showing actual and adjusted expenditure for the four main types of gambling.
