New GCIO Assurance Services Panel will inform ICT investment decisions

8 December 2015

From today, government agencies will be able to access an independent panel of nineteen highly qualified providers of assurance services for ICT-enabled projects and programmes.

“The Government Chief Information Officer (GCIO) Assurance Services Sub-panel will ensure agencies receive high quality, consistent, independent assurance information to help them make better informed decisions,’’ said Tim Occleshaw, Government Chief Technology Officer (GCTO).

The GCIO is responsible for providing confidence to Ministers that ICT risks are being identified and well managed by agencies and across government as a whole, and that the benefits of ICT investments are being delivered.

The GCIO Assurance Services Sub-panel sits under the Assurance sub category of the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment’s (MBIE) All-of-Government (AoG) Consultancy Services Panel.

GCIO Assurance Services will be offered in five categories and agencies will have a choice of providers that will be easy to access. “The GCIO Sub-panel will provide real value for money and increased efficiency because agencies won’t need to undertake lengthy procurement processes or maintain their own panels,” Mr Occleshaw said.

“We’ve worked closely with MBIE on the development of the GCIO Sub-panel. While MBIE will manage the AoG Consultancy Services Panel, we have selected providers for our GCIO Sub-panel that meet specific quality criteria, and we will manage its day-to-day operation to ensure providers continue to meet these quality requirements,” said Mr Occleshaw.

Panel members are Ascendo, Beca, Caravel Group, Central Regions Technical Advisory Services, Equinox, Ernst & Young, Gemtech Solutions, Genesis Consulting Group, Grant Thornton New Zealand, IntuiSec, IQA New Zealand, KPMG, Link Consulting Group, Outcome Insights, Resultex, PricewaterhouseCoopers New Zealand, Starfish Consulting, Techspace Consulting and Tenzing.
