The Department invites your comments about proposed changes to the Minimum Operating Standards for Casinos (the MOS) issued by the Secretary of Internal Affairs under section 141 of the Gambling Act 2003. The MOS relate to the day-to-day operation of the casinos.

These proposed changes have been informed by suggestions made by the casinos and the New Zealand Customs Service. The proposed changes are available here:

Sending us your submission

Please send your submission to the Department by 24 May 2024.

Your submission should be titled “Consultation on MOS amendments” and sent by email to: Gambling@dia.govt.nz.

Once submissions have been received, the Secretary may engage with the submitters before making a final determination. All submitters will be advised of the Secretary's determination and the right of appeal to the Gambling Commission.
