The Department's Electronic Messaging Compliance team is responsible for enforcing the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007. Below is a list of enforcement actions taken by the team in 2012.
December 2012
During December, 2 formal warnings were issued to New Zealand organisations relating to a breach of the Act.

January 2012
As a result of the investigations conducted by the Department during January, five formal warnings were issued under sections 9 and 11 of the Act. Formal warning numbers were lower again this month due to investigations, which began in December 2011.
