The Department has been reviewing its policy and licence conditions relating to gaming machine site payments.

On 22 December 2003 we advised societies and interested parties that we intend to:

  • maintain the status quo on site payments while relevant parts of the Gaming and Lotteries Act 1977 continue in force
  • develop a site payments policy for the Gambling Act regime that comes into force on 1 July 2004.

Background to Site Payments

In May 2003 we sent out a discussion paper and sought the views of the gaming machine sector and a broad range of other interested parties: We received 75 submissions on the original discussion paper, and we have analysed and summarised these submissions in a draft report: After considering the submissions, further analysing the issue, and consulting internally, we developed a second discussion paper: We received 115 submissions on this paper.
