Help Desk National Microsoft Pinpoint scammers


POP up on the computer encouraging the person online to call an 0800 number to fix some internet problems
  • Hello, this morning between 4am-6am I was on a website when this page popped up asking me to call 0800-442-818, they claim to be part of the Help Desk National Microsoft Pinpoint and that there was something wrong with my computer.
  • I spent two hours on the phone with them trying to get me to log into the website www . fmu1 .com which is on the logmein platform
  • They tried a variety of ways to try and get me to connect to the logmein platform. If they were successful I was to leave my machine on and not use it for 10-12 hours.
  • They said I could use my own technician to get the internet working which they said would cost me about $1000 to get a NZ tech to fix the adware and viruses but they could do the job for $300.00 US (447.00 NZ) and I'd be saving about $600.00.

    Hi there im trying to sell my car via trade me and auto trader and have come across a person sending texts via a 990 number then asking to email via an email adress : lisawoods77 @ hotmail.com. There reply is this "Hi, The Car is okay by me and i am also willing to go with your price. I would have called to discuss this but i am presently at Sea serving in the Navy and there's a restriction on phone calls here. I am buying it for my brother and i want it to be a surprise gift. I have a shipping agent who will come for the pick up after i have made payment to you and you have received the money. Unfortunately the agent cannot bring cash or pay on my behalf as he doesn't handle third party payments.

I cannot access and transfer funds online from my bank account as am yet to get it activated but i have my account already attached to my paypal so i can make payment using PayPal.   • Free kitten from Thailand scam

    Hi, I have just found a lot of scammers on this site http ://www. adpost .com /nz/?db=nz _pets& website=&language=&session_key=&search_and_display_db_button=on&results_format=headlines&category=Cats&caption_header=FOR+SALE+/+ADOPTION:&query=browse. They say that they are giving away their pedigree kittens for free because they have no time for them or don’t believe in selling animals to make money. When I inquired about the kittens all they wanted to know was where I lived and about my experience with cats, if I’m suitable to look after them. They then say that they will give me a kitten but they live far away from me and all I have to do is pay for delivery. They gave me the delivery Companies website (cshiplines.webs.com) and said that I just have to pay to a person in Thailand as that is where the company is based.
  • I checked out the site and called the airlines they said they used. The airlines I contacted said that they didn’t use that company and have never heard of it.

  • I'm sorry to hear about your dad - sounds like you have had a rough time lately. Our flatmate doesn't move out until 16 June, so unfortunately the room is not available until then. The lease also runs until February next year which is when our contract runs out, so you would be signing a lease which lasts until then - just wanted to check that you saw this into on the ad and are aware of this. The bond would be $450 which can be arranged around about move in date, and the first rent ($190) would be due a few days after the room becomes available for someone to move in. Would you like to come and see the room when you get back and we can meet you? We are continuing to advertise until we have met somebody and have found a suitable flatmate but of course I would let you know if this happened before you get back, we don't have anyone lined up for the room so far!

This seems weird confiding in you,but I do really need someone to talk to right now

My Dad left me Gold Bars before he passed away which are not part of his documented will,it was given to me by my Aunt upon my arrival.My step mom requested a photocopy of my passport front page and signature for the Family Lawyer as part of the Will sharing procedure,I was so dumb and foolish to give her my passport so she could get the front page photocopy Herself.

Malware notification via Facebook

I would like to report an internet scam that happened to me .


On the night of 22 April 2015, while surfing the net (I was on facebook) my pc was hit by a virus, it came in the form of a mini screen and a recorded message telling me that malware had been found on my pc and provided a phone number so that a specialist will help me.

The interesting part is that the phone number provided was an Auckland number ( 09-887-9351) .

Knowing that it is a scam I tried to get rid of that virus to no avail, I then called a friend who is a pc specialist , he called that number and a young man with an Indian accent answered, after asking few questions he told him to go to google and type : " support me", then a list came up, he said that we should log into the first site up ( called : logmein123.com) a screen came up requiring a password which he provided ( it was 143 576). At this stage we stopped and knowing that logging in means they will have full control over my pc.

Lottery scam via Facebook

Hi, I was approached by a woman "Tisha A Glad" who said she worked for Facebook as their lottery winnings person and said that I had won 50,000.0NZD in their latest lottery.


I queried all of this and as it was through their messages process I managed to save all the conversations, the link to the Chase Bank in the USA and a copy of the winning certificate etc that covered this.

To get the winnings xferred via an electronic bank xfer, I was asked to pay 300.00 via a Western Union Payment to an unknown person who was supposed to be a bank casher.

She is still asking this morning when I am going to pay the Western Union fee..

Chase Bank have contacted me this morning and confirmed that this is a Phishing scam.

I have notified Facebook of this scam and have not heard anything back from them as yet.

However it appears to be genuine with her ID card and facebook number etc on it but the links to the bank and the ensuing conversations I had on Message with her really felt wrong. I know it is not genuine and felt that we need to know about this in NZ.

Following are the Facebook chats I have had with "Tisha":
THIS CORRESPONDENCE OFFICIALLY CONFIRMS THAT WE ARE IN RECEIPT OF YOUR MAIL REGARDING THE CLAIM OF YOUR WINNINGS VALUED OF ($500,000.00) NINE HUNDRED THOUSAND UNITED STATES DOLLARS. I WANT TO LET YOU KNOW THAT THIS IS 100% REAL AND LEGAL, AS A MATTER OF FACT THE FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION (FBI) IS AWARE OF THIS SO YOU HAVE NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT.

ME: thank you to you and Facebook Tisha....... this means that I can now get my eye surgery instead of having to wait months.........

ME: have done, they require a transaction code

TISHA: Oh okay. That is where we have little problem right now ,The bank is asking for transaction code because the money is going to another country .

ME: right so what is the best thing to do now ?

TISHA: And you will have to pay the sum of $300 to get the transaction code sent to your mail in the next 24 hours.. The code will be sent as soon as the payment is been confirmed.All you have to do is to keep your hope alive so that you can achieve your goals..

ME: I will have to borrow that from my daughter as I do not have that much at present.... is there no other way to get this done. It is just after midnight here in New Zealand so will have to wait until I can call her in the morning and get her to transfer the funds

TISHA: You have to wait till morning after the payment is been made

ME: Would the ATM option have the same requirement of the 300.00 ?

TISHA: You are to make the payment through western union The ATM option requires $500 for delivery

ME: Hmmmm that sounds a lot.... who is the Western Union payment made out to ?

TISHA: Did you know how to send money through western union?

ME: I am pretty sure our New Zealand Post Offices have the Western Union facility and I can do that tomorrow.However how do I contact you regarding all of this again to get the funds released ?

ME: I thought it had to go to the bank. Who is this person ?

TISHA: That is the cashier information via western union.

ME: Can we not do this as a direct electronic transfer via my bank to the chase bank ?

TISHA: No you have to take the cash to send via western union. Because the cash has to confirmed the payment then take it to the bank in cash in other for you to get transaction code..

ME: Sounds a strange way to do business.......However I will do that. Do I contact you at Facebook when I have done that ?

TISHA: just send me the receipt given to you by the western union ...

TISHA: Hello Are you still making the payment today?

TISHA: Hello Why have i not heard from you?

Inheritance scam via Facebook

Hi, I received a friend request on Facebook from an elderly lady. Soon after accepting this request, I was notified that I was chosen as a beneficiary of her estate. I was asked for bank details. I was then asked to pay $1800. I didn’t pay the money.

My bank has spent great amounts of money trying to track this man's family.

"Hello I have been talking to a gentleman who claims to be in the military stationed in Afghanistan coming home on October 25th. I met him on a dating site called date hook up. He sent me the first message and we started talking and then became friends. I myself come from a military family so I really thought this person was real he posted his picture and that he lived in Jacksonville, then as we were talking he told me was in the military and I thought it was odd to post that you live in Jacksonville. Then he wanted me to get on Skype and that where I saw him in his military uniform so I thought okay he's legit and then then the bombshell... he wanted me to send 3000.00 to him saying his son was in danger and his mum was him. That's when the flag came up I just don't want any other women to get scammed by this person who claims to defend our country and to wear the uniform."
