The Department of Internal Affairs’ Anti-Spam Compliance Unit enforces the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007.

From time to time, the Unit conducts research to explore business attitudes to unsolicited electronic messages and communications, and the awareness and effectiveness of the legislation and regimes that regulate these communications.

The Unit conducted a Spam Survey, which was open to all New Zealand organisations and individuals. The survey closed on 14 August 2011.

The survey was in two parts:
  • Impact of legislation
  • Impact of incoming spam
