Who administers the licensing regime?

The Private Security Personnel Licensing Authority (Licensing Authority) is based at the Ministry of Justice.

The Licensing Authority issues licences and certificates of approval to organisations and people working in the security industry or as private investigators.

It can also discipline those holding licenses or certificates. It maintains the register of licensees and certificate holders.

Complaints should be directed in the first instance to the Licensing Authority or free phone 0800 477 752.

Complaints about alleged criminal matters should be directed to Police.
