Appointment of Deputy Chief Executive, PREA branch Department of Internal Affairs

24 July 2015

Statement from Colin MacDonald, Chief Executive, Department of Internal Affairs:

“I am delighted to announce that Helen Wyn will be taking up the role of Deputy Chief Executive for the Policy, Regulatory and Ethnic Affairs (PREA) branch at DIA for a period of three years.

“For some time now, public sector chief executives have been working together through sector talent boards to strengthen leadership across the sector and encourage and support leaders to step into more challenging and complex roles. This has also been supported by changes that were recently made to the State Sector Act, which enable Iain Rennie, the State Services Commissioner, to move people throughout the sector for development purposes.

“Iain Rennie, Andrew Kibblewhite, the Chief Executive of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC), and I have worked together to use the sector talent boards and the new legislation to identify talented individuals from across the sector who would benefit from a role as complex and challenging as the Deputy Chief Executive PREA role. I am delighted to give this opportunity to Helen.

“Helen is a well-respected leader who is currently acting Chief Executive of the Ministry for Culture and Heritage. In her previous role as Deputy Chief Executive, Policy at DPMC she ensured that impartial advice was provided to the Prime Minister and other Ministers. Helen takes up her appointment on 24 August 2015.”
