Identity Verification Service - Privacy Impact Assessment

Introduction

The following document is a privacy impact assessment of the igovt (all of government authentication) programme – identity verification service (IVS).

This is the latest in a series of privacy impact assessments that have been prepared in relation to elements of the State Services Commission’s work on online authentication. The first and second privacy impact assessments were prepared by Pacific Privacy Partners in 2003 and 2004. They are available on the e-government website at: http://www.e.govt.nz/services/authentication/library/docs/index.html

This paper should be read in conjunction with the privacy impact assessment prepared for the Government Logon Service (GLS). The IVS is a mechanism for people to verify their identity to service agencies online and in real-time to a high level of confidence. This is something like presenting a passport online (see also: EOI Standard). Download privacy impact statement below: *This document is in Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) format. You need to have the Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer. You can download a free version from the Adobe site.
