If you are checking for your child, answer the questions as if you were your child.

You can ask the Citizenship Office to check if someone is a citizen.

Get information about your citizenship

If you are not sure if you are a citizen, call the Citizenship Office. They can tell you:

  • if you are a citizen
  • how you got citizenship
  • the date you got citizenship
  • your New Zealand citizenship number.

If you want citizenship information about a child aged 15 or under, you need to fill in this form:

Get information about someone else’s citizenship

You may be able to ask for information about someone else’s citizenship. For example, you might need to know the citizenship status of a parent or grandparent so you can claim New Zealand citizenship.
