We remind Corporate Societies to ensure venues are aware of their obligations to leave EMS site controllers and telecommunications on.

All venues are expected to bank GMP on time as usual.

Conducting Housie (Bingo)

Please follow the official government advice for gatherings and events at Alert Level 2, in particular:

Level 1 – the rest of Aotearoa New Zealand

You must continue to meet your obligations under the Gambling Act.

Health and safety

Operators and venues will need to make sensible and reasonable decisions about how they will meet any public health requirements and their health and safety duties and obligations at the current Alert Level.

Refer to the government’s guiding legislation and the advice and guidance provided by agencies involved in public health:

Actual, reasonable and necessary expenditure

The Department expects Societies to take a principled approach to any gaming expenditure being used for health and safety equipment:

  1. It must meet the guidance and requirements of any relevant public health agencies;
  2. It must be actual, reasonable and necessary.
  3. Societies must continue to manage their actual, reasonable and necessary costs according to current practice.

Compliance

As corporate societies, venues and clubs transition through the Alert Levels, their obligations under the Gambling Act remain unchanged.

The primary activity of the venue must be available and functioning at all times while gambling is underway.
