Grant of New Zealand Citizenship (adult)	NZ$460.00
Grant of New Zealand Citizenship (child under 16)	NZ$230.00
Registration of New Zealand Citizenship by Descent (if processed in New Zealand)	NZ$200.00
Registration of New Zealand Citizenship by Descent (if processed in Sydney)	A$180.00
Registration of New Zealand Citizenship by Descent (if processed in London)	GBP80.00
Denial of New Zealand Citizenship	NZ$110.00

Payment must be made with the application. We recommend that you do not send cash in the mail. Payment can be made by:

Credit Card - You can use Visa, Mastercard or American Express. The 'Denial of New Zealand Citizenship' application form does not have a credit card payment section. If paying by credit card please download a Credit Card Payment form and send it in with your application.
Personal Cheque - Personal cheques must be in New Zealand currency drawn against a New Zealand bank account. Make cheques payable to 'Department of Internal Affairs'.
Bank Draft - Bank drafts must be in New Zealand currency drawn against a New Zealand bank. Make bank drafts payable to 'Department of Internal Affairs'
Money Order - Money orders are available from New Zealand Post shops. Make money orders payable to 'Department of Internal Affairs'
EFTPOS/Cash - We accept EFTPOS and cash if you visit one of our offices.

If you are applying from outside New Zealand and wish us to return your documents by courier please contact us for the current courier fee.

If you choose to withdraw your New Zealand citizenship by grant application you may be eligible for a refund of part of the application fee. For further information see Important Notices. Please note: Refunds cannot be granted for any applications other than for New Zealand citizenship by grant.

Citizenship Application Forms
Please see the application form downloads below. Once the form is downloaded to your computer, you can print it, then complete it using a pen and return the form and accompanying material to our office.

Application forms and brochures on this website are in Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) format. You need to have the Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer to view or download the form or brochure. You can download a free version of Adobe Acrobat Reader from the Adobe site. Once you have clicked on the link we suggest that you select ‘Open’ to view and print the application form or brochure rather than ‘Save’ as our forms and brochures change from time to time. Alternatively hard copy versions of these form and brochures are available from the Citizenship Office.
