Te Whakamotuhaketanga Hapu

(Statement on the use of macrons)

About the Strategy

Introduced in 2003, Te Whakamotuhaketanga Hapu strategy is the Local Government and Community Branch’s strategy for working with whanau, hapu and iwi Maori.

It complements the Departments high level outcome of ‘Strong Sustainable Communities/Hapu/Iwi’.

At the heart of the strategy is a relationship building model grounded in principles of tikanga Maori. The strategy’s goals are to improve the Branch’s service delivery to Maori communities and to ensure our policy advice reflects a Maori world view.
