Ministerial credit card expenses

About the release of ministerial credit card expenses

The released credit card statements and reconciliations comprise:
  • all credit card transactions for Ministers both inside and outside Cabinet, including support parties, and their staff for the periods specified (See: rules and guidelines setting out use of the credit cards).
  • copies of supporting documentation provided by ministerial offices for purchases
Some of the amounts charged to ministerial credit cards relate to out-of-Wellington accommodation, surface travel, and official Cabinet-approved international travel. These figures have also been included in the Ministers' expenses for the same period, therefore these amounts on the credit card statements do not represent additional expenditure over and above that in quarterly release.

Some information has been withheld for privacy and security reasons. Annotations have been made to the documents where necessary to provide clarity.

For guidelines on the use of Ministerial credit cards, refer to the rules and guidelines setting out use of the credit card.

It is intended that the Department of Internal Affairs will provide future information on Ministerial credit card expenses on a quarterly basis.
