Minister's Discretionary Fund

The Lottery Minister's Discretionary Fund accepts applications from individuals and groups for community projects that are not the responsibility of any of the Lottery distribution committees or subcommittees. These purposes include, but are not limited to

  • overseas travel
  • volunteer fire fighting services
  • animal welfare.
The Minister of Internal Affairs, as ex officio Presiding Member of the Lottery Grants Board, distributes the fund.

How to Apply
Apply to COGS and Lottery Grants Board using Grants Online (www.cdgo.govt.nz) You may apply either:
  • Electronically
    Register on the Grants Online website. You will receive a username and password. For support, ring 0800 824 824 (in New Zealand only), or email: grantsonline@dia.govt.nz.
  • On paper
    Download the appropriate application form, information sheet and application guide in pdf format from the Grants Online website, print it out, fill it in and mail it to the address on the form. There is a separate form for an Individual and for a Group application. For support, ring 0800 824 824 (in New Zealand only), or email: grantsonline@dia.govt.nz.
