Lottery Community

Lottery Community considers applications for developmental or preventative projects, welfare and support services, or projects that help to improve the wellbeing of people in the community.

  • Activity, resource and programme costs
  • Administration costs
  • Care and support
  • Domestic travel
  • Projects encouraging people to participate in their communities
  • Salaries (up to $30,000)
  • Training and supervision
  • Feasibility studies
  • One-off projects and new initiatives
  • Regional and national gatherings
  • Volunteer costs and expenses
  • Community awareness
  • Minor capital works (up to $30,000)

How to Apply
Apply to COGS and Lottery Grants Board using Grants Online (www.cdgo.govt.nz) You may apply either:
  • Electronically
    Register on the Grants Online website. You will receive a username and password. For support, ring 0800 824 824 (in New Zealand only), or email: grantsonline@dia.govt.nz.
  • On paper
    Download the appropriate application form in pdf format from the Grants Online website, print it out, fill it in and mail it to the address on the form. For support, ring 0800 824 824 (in New Zealand only), or email: grantsonline@dia.govt.nz.
Meeting Dates
The Lottery National Community Distribution Committee meets three times each fnancial year, in August, December and April. Each of the 11 Lottery Regional Community Distribution Committees meets three times each financial year, over two-week periods in November, March and June. Closing dates for applications are approximately three months before each meeting or round of meetings. Check here for application closing dates and Community Committee meeting dates for 2010.

The 11 Lottery Regional Community Committees serve these regions:
  • West Coast / Nelson-Marlborough
  • Canterbury-Kaikoura (including Chatham Islands)
  • Otago / Southland
  • Northland
  • Auckland
  • Waikato
  • Taranaki
  • Bay of Plenty / Gisborne
  • Hawkes Bay
  • Manawatu-Wanganui
  • Wellington
