Citizenship and Immigration

Immigration New Zealand and the Citizenship Office accept our selective translations of personal documents such as birth, marriage, death, divorce, name change and police certificates as well as several other identification documents.

For a selective translation, we translate only the information we know is required.

You can request a selective translation by email. Please send a scan or photo of your document to:
The Translation Service with a contact phone number that we can call you on for payment.

How much will my translations cost?

Selective translations into English have a set fee of $95.00 per document.

If you're unsure whether or not your document falls into this category, please contact us for a quote.

How long will my translations take?

Selective translations from a foreign language into English

  • 3-5 working days (not including postage times)

Should I send you my original documents?

We do not require your original documents to carry out the translation. We will attach a copy of the document you send us to the back of the translation.

What other important information do I need to provide you with?

When sending us your documents for translation, it is always helpful if you include a short note saying what you need, how you want to pay, how you would like your translation returned to you, and also some contact details in case we need to contact you.

If your document is written in a non-Latin script it is also very important to tell us how you would like the names on your documents spelled in English so that they match with your immigration or citizenship application.

What if my document is not a basic certificate and needs full translation?

If you're not sure whether this is the right option, please scan and email the document to us and ask for a quote.
